History

The Public Information Office was officially formed on January 2, 2007 under the administration of Mayor Celso L. Lobregat.

Prior to the PIO, information dissemination – made primarily via press releases and newspaper ads – was facilitated by media liaisons in a consultant position. This post was helmed by media veterans Bob Jaldon and Gerky Valesco who, together with a media team composed of photographer Joey Bautista and videographer Rolly Carpio, handled all information and media concerns.

The formation of the Public Information Office brought about the appointment of Belen Covarrubias as the City Information Officer and chief of the newly-formed division. It also saw the formation of the City’s official media team with the inclusion of additional information officers and multi-media personnel to perform its functions.

To date, the PIO is composed of 12 employees – five information officers, an executive assistant for all city and special events, one photographer, one videographer, two stenographers, one driver, and one utility.
