Turtle conservation in Once Islas

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, villagers in Playa Isabelle in Soromon in Once Islas are actively taking part in the initiative to protect turtle nesting sites in support of the government’s thrust on environmental protection. This, as the OCENR and DENR together with the villagers recently released 49 hatchlings of hawksbill sea turtles into the sea in Playa Isabelle. The OCENR and DENR thanked the villagers for their efforts in protecting and overseeing the successful hatching of the turtle eggs. The hawksbill sea turtle or Eretmochelys Imbricate is a critically endangered specie. (photo credits: Katherine Wee Sit)
