OCENR spearheads 2019 Basura Run 3

The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) in collaboration with United Leaders for Social Development, Inc. (U-LEAD, INC.) spearheaded the “2019 Basura Run 3” which started from Arena Blanco National High School to barangay hall of Sta. Catalina yesterday, January 27, 2019.

Basura Run is a new eco-friendly fitness trend where participants pick up trash while jogging. It is internationally known as “plogging” and was originated in Sweden. 

Winners of Basura Run 3 are Mark Anthony Yap (1st place), Rosell Orbuc (2nd place), and Junmar Guab (3rd place). Edwin Sanchez, John Carlo Atwil and the representatives of Barangay Tulungatung won the consolation prizes.

The 2019 Basura Run 3 were participated by the citizens of Barangay Tugbungan, Barangay Labuan, Barangay Tulungatung, Barangay Sta. Catalina and Barangay Arena Blanco. Uniformed personnel from Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), Special Operation Wing- Philippine Air Force (SPOW-PAF), 545th Peaceseeker battalion of 54th Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army and Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 (MBLT-11) also participated in the said activity.
